No rest for Kohli during West Indies tour: Reports

India

Indian captain Virat Kohli is set to participate in the whole tour of West Indies if reports are to be believed. Kohli has opted not to take a rest during the T20I and ODI legs of the tour and will lead the team for the entire duration of the campaign.

Reports had earlier emerged that Kohli and pacer Jasprit Bumrah would be rested for the tour, in order to manage their heavy workloads. But a fresh report in Times of India has now stated that most of the senior members of the squad have indicated their availability for a full tour of the Caribbean, which will begin next month.

The only exceptions will be Bumrah, who has been adviced some rest, Hardik Pandya who is enduring back trouble and MS Dhoni, who will be heading towards his army unit for the next couple of months.

Kohli has played non-stop cricket over the last few months. A gruesome tour of Australia was followed by a short trip to New Zealand, where he was rested for the final two ODIs and the T20I series. Kohli then led the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL, before captaining the Indian team to the semi-finals of the World Cup.

India will tour West Indies from August 3 to September 3. The tour will include 3 T20Is, 3 ODIs and 2 Test matches. The selectors will announce the squad after a meeting on July 19.
