Police departments use Rahul Dravid’s viral ad to share advisory posts

Rahul Dravid's new Ad

With the advent of social media, a fraction of a second is all it takes for anything to reach from one corner of the world to another. And when one witness the sight of Rahul Dravid getting ‘angry’, it is bound to create an uproar. The viral ad clip of CRED, where the former Indian batsman can be seen as ‘Indiranagar ka Gunda’ has become a rage on the internet and it seems like it is here to stay.

From the public to celebs to cricketers, none have been able to hold themselves from reacting to the hilariously angry side of one of the most composed personalities. After becoming an instant hit, the clip of the advertisement is being used by police departments to share advisory messages.

Given the recent upsurge of the COVID-19 cases across the state of Maharashtra, the Mumbai Police have taken a cue from the latest commercial to spread awareness about the coronavirus pandemic amid these testing times.

On Friday, the Mumbai Police shared an Instagram post featuring the legendary Indian cricketer and highlighted the importance of wearing masks in the aftermath of the ongoing coronavirus crisis.

“Mask, seeing the virus approaching you,” captioned the Mumbai Police.

In a similar vein, the Surat Police asked people to avoid aggressive behavior when stuck in traffic, whereas Nagpur City Police also shared an advisory post inspired by Dravid’s viral advertisement. In the viral advertisement, Dravid can be seen yelling at people while he is stuck in a traffic jam. He can be heard saying “Indiranagar ka Gunda hun main”.

“Hi, this is Rahul Dravid writing the description for this video. Sorry, I lost my temper there. I am meditating these days. Well, I am just writing this to let you know that CRED truly rewards you every time you pay your credit card bills on time. They are good people.” Dravid later said in the advertisement.

Notably, reacting to the ad, Indian skipper Virat Kohli tweeted “Never seen this side of Rahul Bhai”. Even Dravid’s former IPL franchise, Rajasthan Royals, shared a meme where they declare his performance in the ad as “one of his best performances”.
