Ravindra Jadeja opens up after terrific display against Tamil Nadu

India’s gun all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja played his first game since August 2022 and took a seven-wicket haul in the second innings against Tamil Nadu to script his remarkable comeback.

Ravindra Jadeja is arguably one of the best all-rounders India has ever produced. His numbers in both batting and bowling across all formats of the game are impressive. His brilliant fielding ability adds to his incredible skill set. Jadeja has been the first choice all-rounder for team India in all three formats of the game and he was truly missed by the team during the ICC T20 World Cup that concluded in November 2022.

Jadeja has been absent from the Indian team owing to a knee injury that he suffered in the UAE during the Asia Cup 2022. He hasn’t been a part of the team since then and Axar Patel has made a strong claim for his spot in the team. Axar has become a mainstay in the Indian team in the absence of Jadeja.

But now the Saurashtra all-rounder is back and has already played his first competitive game since injury. He is currently leading the Saurashtra team and took a very important seven-wicket haul in the second innings of the Ranji Trophy game against Tamil Nadu. With the bat, he wasn’t able to do much as he got out cheaply for just 15.

After taking the seven wicket haul, Jadeja posted on social media along with the match ball and wrote, “First cherry of the season”. He bowled right from the start in the second innings and that was a great decision since his team was able to bowl out the mighty Tamil Nadu batters for a mediocre score of 133.

Jadeja has been named in the squad for the India-Australia Test series starting February 9 but his participation is subject to fitness. When he was asked whether he is ready for the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy, the Indian All-rounder replied by saying, “Yes, yes, yes…..”.

Jadeja while speaking after the end of the day’s play (Day 3) said that, “Feeling very good after playing a game after a very long time. Hopefully, I am good to go now. It was tough on the first day, but as the game progressed, I started feeling better,” as quoted by NDTV.
