Reports: BCCI to hold India’s review meeting

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has reportedly decided to hold a review meeting of the Indian team following their losses against Bangladesh in the ongoing One Day Internationals. According to reports, the BCCI was originally planning to conduct the review meeting post the Men in Blue’s semifinal ouster from the ICC T20 World Cup 2022, but that did not happen as some of the officials were busy.

The national cricket board has finally decided to take this call after India lost to a seventh-ranked Bangladesh side. Meanwhile, this also happens to be a second consecutive ODI series loss for India on Bangladesh soil. The previous one happened to be in June 2015 where the Indian team under MS Dhoni lost the three-match series 1-2.

We weren’t able to meet the Indian team before going to Bangladesh: BCCI official

“We weren’t able to meet the Indian team before going to Bangladesh as some of the office bearers were busy but we will schedule it as soon as the team is back from Bangladesh. It has been an embarrassing performance and we didn’t expect this team to lose to Bangladesh,” a top BCCI official said as quoted by The Indian Express.

At the same time, it also remains to be seen whether any call will be taken on Rohit Sharma’s captaincy and former skipper Rahul Dravid’s term as the head coach of the Indian team. While India remained undefeated in both home and away bilateral T20I series in the last 12 months, they have had their fair share of lows in some bilateral ODIs and multi-nation tournaments as well.

The Men in Blue suffered a 0-3 whitewash in South Africa ODIs earlier this year, failed to make the finals of the Asia Cup in the UAE and could not break the knockouts jinx in yet another ICC tournament as they exited the T20 World Cup down under following a humiliating 10-wicket defeat to the eventual champions England in the semis.
