Revealed! Scott Styris’ predictions for IPL 2021

Styris

Ahead of the upcoming season of the IPL, former New Zealand all-rounder Scott Styris has revealed his prediction for all the teams. The 14th edition is scheduled to get underway on April 9 in Chennai. Defending champions Mumbai Indians will take on Royal Challengers Bangalore in the opening game.

Mumbai Indians have won the last two seasons and will be eyeing history in IPL 2021. The Rohit Sharma-led side could become the first team in IPL history to win the title three times in a row. Last year, they became just the second team after Chennai Super Kings to defend their title. All the other teams will be desperate to win the title too.

The likes of Royal Challengers Bangalore, Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals will be eyeing their first-ever IPL title. Rajasthan Royals, on the other hand, have not laid their hands on the trophy since the inaugural season in 2008. Kolkata Knight Riders and SunRisers Hyderabad have not won the title since 2014 and 2016 respectively. Chennai Super Kings will also be desperate to go all the way this season after their disastrous campaign last time when they failed to make it to the playoffs.

Scott Styris’ prediction for IPL 2021

While only time will tell the standings of the teams in IPL 2021, Styris has revealed his prediction. The former CSK all-rounder took to Twitter to predict the standing of all the teams. Styris believes that Mumbai Indians will be able to defend their title once again. At number two, he picked up last year’s runners-up Delhi Capitals.

At number three, Styris went for Punjab Kings who have not managed to make it to the playoffs since 2014. For the fourth and final playoff spot, the former cricketer picked Sunrisers Hyderabad. Styris further stated that Royal Challengers Bangalore and Rajasthan Royals are likely to finish at the fifth and sixth spot respectively.

He also opined that the Royals could finish at a higher position depending on their record-signing Chris Morris’ fitness and Jofra Archer’s availability. Styris finished his prediction by springing a couple of surprises. He predicted that Kolkata Knight Riders would finish seventh while Chennai Super Kings would finish at the bottom.
