Ruling the shortest format: All Time T20I XI

The T20 format has revolutionised cricket. The whole dynamics of the sport has changed and even the required run-rate of 15 in the last five overs feels like nothing nowadays. The powerful batsmen and the innovative shots have left the bowlers to come up with different variations. Some players have taken a liking to the shortest form of the game ever since its inception and hence we make an all-time T20I XI.

1. Rohit Sharma –

The Indian opener is a must in every Playing XI with the stats he possesses. Rohit Sharma has played 108 T20Is and scored 2773 runs with an average of 32.62 and strike of 138.78. Such numbers in T20 cricket are phenomenal and the ability to play a big inning awarded Sharma a place in All-time XI.

2. Brendon Mccullum –

Baz Mccullum from New Zealand gave life to T20 Cricket. With some blistering batting at the top order with all innovative and dominating batting, he entertained the fans across the world. Mccullum played 71 T20Is and scored 2140 runs with an average of 35.67 and strike rate of 136.22.

4. Glenn Maxwell –

Maxwell has been the trump card for Australia but he hasn’t performed with the amount of ability and power he possesses with. However, the fearful impact and great T20 numbers justified his place in the all-time XI. In 64 international games, Maxwell has an average of 33.52 with a brilliant strike rate of 158.37.

5. Ben Stokes –

The all-round ability and the tag of match-winner from any tough situation gave Stokes a place in this team. He has played only 26 T20Is so far but the reputation of Stokes as an all-rounder creates an impact on opposition. His inclusion lends balance to the team big time.

6. Kieron Pollard –

Kieron Pollard is the T20 superstar of all time who hits sixes for fun and can win you a game from any tough position. Pollard has a huge ability to win games for the team. When he tries to hit sixes, even mishits go over the boundary and until Pollard is at the crease, the teams don’t dare to be complacent. He turns the game on its head within a few deliveries.

7. M S Dhoni –

The last over finish and the slang “No game is over till MS at the crease” perfectly describes MS Dhoni. The best finisher in the world and the best captain of all time, MS Dhoni is a straightforward selection in the All-time XI. His remarkable skills behind the stumps with the glove work are exceptional as well.

8. Sunil Narine –

The West Indian has bamboozled the established and quality batsmen of all-time with some remarkable skills in T20 cricket. The mystery of Narine and the ability to bowl in death overs earn him a spot in all-time XI. Though he hasn’t played much for West Indies over the years, Narine has played a crucial role in them winning two T20 World Cup titles.

9. Mitchell Starc –

The Australian paceman Mitchell Starc knows how to swing the new ball and reverse later in the death overs with pinpoint yorkers. Batsmen find it hard to hit Mitchell Starc over the boundary as he has the economy of under 7 runs per over. Starc has a bowling average of 19.49 which is brilliant in the shortest format.

10. Lasith Malinga –

Lasith Malinga is the greatest ever T20 player and having him in any team is a luxury. His ability to deliver pinpoint yorkers is superb and the opposition have seldom got the better of him. No wonder, he is regarded as one of the best bowlers in history.

11. Jasprit Bumrah –

Bumrah is India’s No.1 Bowler in limited-overs cricket and world’s most reliable bowler in the death overs with the change of pace up his sleeves. He hits the yorkers perfectly and has the ability to choke the batsmen in any pressure situations.
