SA vs WI: West Indies announce two new additions to their Test squad

After the West Indies registered a Test series win (1-0) in Zimbabwe, they will now be travelling to South Africa for a two-match Test series, which will be followed by a three-match ODI and T20I series. The selection panel of the Cricket West Indies (CWI) announced two new additions to the squad for their series against South Africa.

Newcomers Alick Athanaze and Akeem Jordan were announced in the 15-man squad that will be going up against South Africa for the two-match Test series. Both the players have demonstrated good form, and Athanaze and Jordan will be replacing left-arm spinner Jomel Warrican and batter Nkrumah Bonner in the team.

The upcoming Test series will be the final set of fixtures for both teams in their ongoing World Test Championship cycle. The Windies will be facing the Proteas at the SuperSport Park in Centurion in the first Test and both teams will head to Johannesburg for the second Test. The squad for the white-ball series will be announced at a later date.

West Indies clinch the series against Zimbabwe

West Indies played a two-match Test series against Zimbabwe recently; the first match of the series was drawn as the Chevrons fought back in a hard-fought stalemate. In the second match of the series, West Indies dominated Zimbabwe as the Chevrons were unable to perform with the bat.

Zimbabwe just managed to score 115 runs in the first innings, and the Windies replied with a massive score of 292. The hosts failed to take the game into Day 4, and they lost the match by an innings and four runs.

The knocks of Roston Chase, and Raymon Reifer in the first innings were influential for the Windies, as they managed to win the series after drawing the first game. Gudakesh Motie was named Player of the Match following his excellent performances with the ball; he was also named Player of the Series as well.
