Sachin Tendulkar steps forward to help his former bat-repairer

Ashraf Chaudhary, who once fixed Sachin Tendulkar’s bats, was suffering the ill-effects of the coronavirus pandemic. Not only his business was rocked by the pause in international and domestic cricket but his health was also deteriorating. India’s legendary batsman took it upon himself to help the ailing bat-repairer.

Chaudhary, also known as “Ashraf Chacha” in cricketing circles, has been admitted to the Savla hospital for past 12 days due to diabetes and midzone pneumonia-related complications. Tendulkar stepped forward in helping his former bat-repairer with the fiances.

Chaudhary’s close friend Prashant Jethmalani informed PTI on 25th August, “Tendulkar came forward and has spoken to Ashraf Chacha. He has also helped him financially. A major chunk of the finances has been donated by the legendary batsman.”

Repairing the bats of several noted cricketers including Tendulkar and Virat Kohli, Chaudhary has carved a niche for himself in the cricketing industry. He had to undergo difficult times due to COVID-19 as both his health and business spiralled down. International players such as Australia’s Steve Smith, Chris Gayle and Kieron Pollard from West Indies have all used the services of Ashraf Chacha.
