SL vs IND: 5 Indian cricketers who impressed the most on Sri Lanka tour

India toured Sri Lanka for a white ball series that consisted of six matches, three ODIs, and T20Is each, and visitors were expected to win all the games but things didn’t go as per the plans. After winning the ODI series successfully, men in blue had all the eyes on the T20I series as well but the COVID-19 outbreak in the camp pushed them to take the field with a depleted side. Though India lost the T20I series, there were some remarkable performances in the tour that turned heads, let’s take a look at them –

5. Chetan Sakariya

The young bowler who impressed in IPL with Rajasthan Royals got his maiden call up for the Lanka tour and impressed a bit in the total three games he played. He turned up decent with his death bowling tactics too and picked two wickets by conceding just 34 runs in his maiden outing with India.

4. Bhuvneshwar Kumar

Bhuvneshwar Kumar was named as India’s vice-captain on this tour and made sure to make a mark. Though he appeared a little rusty in the opening ODI, he displayed all his skills in the subsequent games. He kept getting crucial breakthroughs for India and picked a classy four-for in the opening T20I that India won by 38 runs. His batting contribution alongside Deepak Chahar cannot be overlooked as he took hold of the one end firmly.

3. Rahul Chahar

Spinner Rahul Chahar made sure to make his Sri Lanka outing a memorable one by giving in all his efforts. Even though India lost the 3rd ODI, Chahar looked impressive by picking three wickets by conceding at 5.40. However, his best show was seen in the final T20I of the series where he turned up as a lone warrior in India’s bowling artillery and picked all three wickets by conceding just 15 runs.

2. Deepak Chahar

Deepak Chahar is one of the favourite picks in the T20I squad but this time around, he impressed in ODIs too and his batting show came up as the cherry on the cake. He was amongst wickets consistently in the first two ODIs and the batting action he unfolded in the 2nd ODI became a dreamy affair for India. Chahar pulled off an unimaginable by playing an unbeaten knock of 69 runs in the second ODI and gifted the series to India when they were down and out.

1. Suryakumar Yadav

If there was one man who owned the series completely before being out due to the COVID-19 scare, it was hands down Yadav. After impressing big time in his maiden international outing against England this year, he made sure to grab the limelight in SL too. He was declared as the man of the series in his maiden ODI series against Lanka and came up with a subtle fifty in the opening T20I too.
