SL-W vs IND-W: Top 5 Performers from T20I series

The T20I series between Sri Lanka and India witnessed some great, but in the end, India emerged victorious as they won the first two games of the series to seal the deal midway. As the Women in Blue looked to clean-sweep the series, the Chamari Athapaththu-led team bounced back stronger than ever and registered a win in the third and final T20I. India won the series 2-1, but there were a few players who impressed throughout the series with their performances. Let us look at five top performers from the series-

Harmanpreet Kaur

The Indian skipper was back in the captaincy role and had a task ahead of her because a couple of senior members had been left out of the squad in order to hunt for new and young talent. Throughout the series, Kaur stepped up and added the crucial runs to the scoreboard and helped her team reach a defendable total alongside being economical with the ball.

Chamari Athapaththu

The Sri Lankan skipper unleashed her power-hitting prowess with an unbeaten knock of 80*(48) in the final T20I of the series. By the end of the three games, she emerged as the highest runs-scorer of the T20I series with a total of 139 runs from three games. She ended with a strike rate of 128.70 and a brilliant average of 69.50.

Jemimah Rodrigues

Making her return to the national squad, Rodrigues impressed one and all with her unbeaten knock in the very first game of the series. After the top-order batters were dismissed, the middle-order perished partially, very quickly. But Rodrigues kept her calm and composure and batted till the end of the innings to take her team’s scoreboard to a defendable and decent total.

Deepti Sharma

There is no doubt in saying that Deepti Sharma is the finest all-rounder in the Indian camp. One can just not keep her out of the game. Throughout the three games, she stepped up whenever the team needed- a batter to amass some big runs, a bowler to pick wickets, and a fielder to perform heroics on the field.

Inoka Ranaweera

During the three-match series, the Sri Lankan spinner achieved a milestone as she completed 50 T20 international matches in her career. Though her side ended in a losing cause, she was brilliant with her wicket-taking skills. In three games, she scalped a total of six wickets to finish as the highest wicket-taker of the series as she picked at least one wicket in each of the three matches.
