Steve Smith reveals his current favourite T20 player

Steve Smith

Australia’s veteran batsman Steve Smith is currently playing his trade for New South Wales in the ongoing 2021 edition of Australia’s Domestic One-Day Cup tournament. Smith isn’t a part of Australia’s squad for the ongoing five-match T20I series against New Zealand and is thus indulging in domestic cricket.

New South Wales have played just one game in the tournament thus far where they, under the leadership of Pat Cummins, managed to outshine the Victoria team by a whopping 59 runs. Smith was the wrecker-in-chief for NSW in that game by playing a sublime knock of 127 runs off 124 deliveries and was rightly adjudged as the Man of the Match.

On Wednesday, March 3, arguably one of the best batsmen of the modern era Smith took to his official Instagram handle to host an interactive Question and Answer (Q & A) session with his fans and followers and answered a variety of questions related to his personal and professional life.

One of the major highlights of the entire interactive session between Smith and his fans was the former heaping praises on West Indies power-hitter Nicholas Pooran. A fan questioned, “If you could have any foreign player in the Australian team who and why?

To this, Smith answered that though it depends on the format of the game but his current favourite player in the shortest format of the game has to be Nicholas Pooran. The Australian star was in awe of Pooran’s swing. “What format? My current favourite T20 player in Pooran. What a beautiful pure swing

Steve Smith opines on the Test series between India and England

The four-match Test series between India and England is constantly making headlines and is marred with controversies. The four-match series is being headed by the Men in Blue with a lead of 2-1 and they just need a draw or win in the last Test match, scheduled from March 4 at Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad to qualify for the final of the inaugural edition of the World Test Championship.

Meanwhile, while England is out of the race to the final, Australia is still in contention of making it to the marquee event provided that England wins the last Test and the series ends up in a draw with 2-2. Thus, when a fan asked Steve Smith about his thoughts on the World Test Championship, Smith replied, “Great concept. I’ll be cheering for England this week. Not sure you’ll hear me say that again though.
