T20 WC 2021: IND vs NZ Preview – Magnificent clash in offing as teams fight for survival

Trent Boult & Rohit Sharma

After suffering defeats in the hands of Pakistan, India and New Zealand will come face to face against each other in a Super 12 match at the T20 World Cup 2021 at the Dubai International Stadium on October 31. India lost to Pakistan by 10 wickets in Dubai while New Zealand lost their game by five wickets in Sharjah.

Given the state of this group, this clash has a lot of importance. The winner of this match could potentially have a chance to make it to the semi-final along with Pakistan, who have already won three of their five group matches. Having said that, don’t be surprised if this contest goes right down to the wire.

Head to head:

Team News:

India: Despite quite a mediocre performance in the previous match, India are expected to continue with the same XI. By no means, they are a weaker team and it should be noted that they fielded their best playing XI. Hardik Pandya had a bit of an injury concern, but it seems he has sorted that out and would be available for this match.

New Zealand: Martin Guptill had a bit of an injury concern with his toe, but he is expected to be fit for this game. Lockie Ferguson’s injury ruled him out of the tournament, giving an entry to Adam Milne. Though Tim Southee is expected to hold on to his place in the XI, coach Gary Stead’s comments around ICC’s decision to not allow Milne forces a question if NZ want him to play.
