T20 World Cup 2021: IND vs PAK Preview – All set for a high-voltage encounter

Virat Kohli & Mohammad Amir

The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 will witness the match which has been getting all the hype over the last few weeks and for its fair reason. The Indo-Pak rivalry at the World Cup stage will witness a new chapter and India would be hoping the result is the same as it was previously. India has an unbeaten record and a very strong team in front of Pakistan.

However, Pakistan is upbeat as well. The T20I side came together well during these last few months and we have seen a lot of wonderful performances. However, it is the pressure that Pakistan has to deal with. Not that India doesn’t feel any, but that is exactly what makes this contest a must-watch for the fans.

Match Info

India vs Pakistan, Match 16, Super 12 Group 2

Venue: Dubai International Stadium

Time: 7:30 PM IST

Head to head:

The last meeting in the World Cup was in 2016 at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata which was won by India, who have won all the five encounters between these two teams since 2007.

Team News:

India: The Virat Kohli-led side have a few decisions to make in the XI, but this time the challenge is to identify their best bowling unit. Varun Chakravarthy has been picked up by the team as a mystery spinner, but Ravichandran Ashwin is someone who might get the backing of the captain. There is another call that India have to take and that is around the place of Bhuvneswar Kumar who didn’t perform to the expectations in IPL. Thakur is the frontrunner to play if India decides to drop Bhuvi. The rest of the team picks itself.

Pakistan: The Men in Green named their 12 on the eve of the game. Asif Ali adds the hitting ability but he could be fighting for the spot with Haider Ali. Expect Pakistan to go with the experienced duo of Shoaib Malik and Mohammad Hafeez. With 12 already announced, there shouldn’t be much debate on the XI that gets picked for the game.
