The Orange Cap race: 5 Highest run-getters of IPL 2020

After nearly two months of competitive cricket among eight different IPL teams, we’ve finally got a winner. Mumbai Indians continued their dominance in the cash-rich league to clinch their fifth IPL title in the tournament’s history. There were many high-scoring games, nail-biting thrillers, Super Overs and most importantly there was a double Super Over for the first time in T20 cricket history.

Battle for the orange cap is always gripping and this season proved the same yet again. Many batsmen competed for it but only one can get it at the end of the tournament. Interestingly, we’ve got an Indian winning the orange cap this year. KL Rahul became the fourth Indian after Sachin Tendulkar, Robin Uthappa and Virat Kohli to bag the cap.

On that note, let us have a look at top 5 run-scorers in IPL 2020:

5. Ishan Kishan:

Mumbai Indians’ success story mostly depends on Ishan Kishan’s batting. The keeper-batsman missed a few games at the start due to injury but his comeback was grand in all ways as he smacked 516 runs in just 13 innings. He smacked 30 sixes in the whole tournament, making him the batsman to hit the most sixes this season. The pocket-size dynamo smashed all these runs at an astonishing average of 57.33.

4. Shreyas Iyer:

DC skipper Shreyas Iyer lived up to the expectations of his fans with 519 runs in 17 innings this season. His runs came at an average of 35 and it helped his franchise in winning many important games. His best knock came in Sharjah when he smacked an unbeaten 88 to take his team home quite comfortably.

3. David Warner:

The SRH opening batsman David Warner always keeps himself busy whenever he’s at the crease. The story remained the same as he scored many important runs for his franchise this season. In 16 innings, the SRH captain smacked 548 runs at an average of 39.14. The dashing batsman also smacked four valuable fifties for his side.

2. Shikhar Dhawan:

Shikhar Dhawan joined the party a bit late in the tournament as he was pretty dull with the willow at the start of the season. However, his back to back tons made things interesting as it helped in DC’s fightback in the tournament. The Gabbar scored 618 runs in the tournament in 17 innings at an average of 44.14

1. KL Rahul:

KXIP wicketkeeper-batsman KL Rahul was made captain of the franchise for the first time and he lived up to the expectations with the willow but some of his decisions as a captain baffled many. The opener scored 670 runs in 14 innings at an average of 55.83. He smacked a century and five fifty-plus scores in the tournament.
