Top 3 highest individual scores in T20I cricket

Aaron Finch

T20 format is often labelled as the batter’s format. Such is the demand and the pace of the format that a batter has to go for runs right from the beginning. There is hardly any time to settle down as only runs are the priority from the first over itself. Few individuals have smashed it heavily in the T20 international matches as they wreaked havoc with their brutal hitting.

Let’s take a look at the highest individual score in T20 internationals:

3.Aaron Finch (156)

Australia’s current limited-overs format skipper Aaron Finch has the third-highest score in T20 internationals. The right-handed batter smashed it all around the park against England in Southampton in August 2013. The Aussies batted first and Finch just went berserk. He hammered 156 off just 63, which included 11 fours and 14 towering maximums at a strike rate of 247.61. The Victoria-born batter took his side to a massive total of 248/6 in 20 overs as Australia thrashed England by 39 runs.

2.Hazratullah Zazai (162*)

Swashbuckling Afghanistan opener Hazratullah Zazai has slammed the second-highest score in the T20Is. The southpaw struck 162* off just 62 with 11 fours and 16 gigantic sixes at a strike rate of 261.29 against Ireland in Dehradun in February 2019. The left-handed batter just tore apart the Irish bowling line-up as his side posted 278/3 batting first, which is the joint-highest total in all T20s. In reply, Ireland managed 194/6, eventually losing the game by 84 runs.

1.Aaron Finch (172)

It’s Finch again as the Australian also holds the record for the highest individual score in the T20Is. The brutal batter hammered 172 off just 76 with the help of 16 fours and ten maximums at a strike rate of 226.31 against Zimbabwe in Harare in July 2018. His team reached a total of 229/2 in 20 overs and won the encounter by 100 runs. It is also the second-highest score by a batter in all T20 cricket after Chris Gayle’s magical innings of 175* against Pune Warriors India (PWI) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2013.
