Top 3 individual scores in Asia Cup history

The Asia Cup 2022 will be the 15th edition of the tournament and it has begun in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on August 27. It will be played using the T20 format for only the second time in the competition, after the 2016 edition.  India won the competition in 2018 and will go into the Asia Cup 2022 as the defending champions.

India have won the trophy seven times overall, and Sri Lanka and Pakistan have won the Asia Cup five times and two times respectively. In the Asia Cup 2022, Hong Kong, India and Pakistan are in Group A, and Group B comprises Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.

The final is set to take place at Dubai International Cricket Stadium on September 11. The Asia Cup, since its emergence in 1984, has provided some memorable moments and matches. From Ajantha Mendis’s staggering spell of six wickets for 13 in the 2008 final to a remarkable three-wicket haul by Mohammad Amiragainst India in 2016, the Asia Cup truly provides a spectacle.

3.Shoaib Malik (Pakistan) – 143

On July 25, 2004, India and Pakistan faced off for the 10th match of Cup 2004 in Colombo. Pakistan batted first after winning the toss and posted a competitive total of 300. Shoaib Malik top-scored for the side, scoring 143 off 127 balls with 18 fours and a six and also bringing up his career-best in ODIs.For India, Sachin Tendulkar pulled the strings, scoring 78, complemented by Sourav Ganguly, who scored 39. However, it was not enough to chase down 301, as they gathered only 241 runs.

2.Younis Khan (Pakistan) and Mushfiqur Rahim (Bangladesh) – 144

On July 18, 2004, Hong Kong took on Pakistan in Colombo, and Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq elected to bat first after winning the toss. Star batter Younis Khan played a magnificent knock of 144 off 122 balls and steered his side to a huge total of 343 in 50 overs. Hong Kong crumbled for 165 in 44.1 overs and Pakistan sealed a thumping 173-run victory.

Bangladesh batter Mushfiqur Rahim also scored a match-winning knock of 144 off 150 balls against Sri Lanka in September 2018, taking his side to 261. In the second innings, Sri Lanka conceded to a strong bowling display from the Bangla Tigers and were all out for only 124.

1.Virat Kohli (India) – 183

Indian star batter Virat Kohli brought up his highest ODI score against Pakistan on March 18, 2012, in Mirpur. He scored an unbeaten 183 off only 148 balls with 22 fours and a six, and also took India over the line, chasing a challenging target of 330 in only 47.5 overs. This, to this day, is his highest individual score in ODIs.
