Top run-scorers in Ashes at Lord’s in this century

England and Australia’s famed Ashes rivalry has witnessed several batting greats over the years. While there has not been a shortage of talented batters from both contingents, some have outshone their competitors at the biggest stages. On that note, we list the batters from both countries to have amassed the most runs at the iconic Lord’s in Ashes since the turn of the century.

254 – Alastair Cook

Former England skipper and one the greatest red-ball cricketers to have emerged from the country, Alastair Cook had a knack for making it count for his team on important occasions. The prolific opener enjoyed a decent run against arch-rivals Australia during his playing career on his home soil. The classy batter from Gloucester scored 2493  runs against the Aussies, with 254 of those coming in the Ashes at Lord’s. Furthermore, he is the only Englishman to feature on this elite batting list.

357 – Michael Clarke

While Michael Clarke bid farewell to his glittering international career after an Ashes defeat in England, the former Australian skipper enjoyed playing against the Three Lions. Clarke got his first taste of Ashes during the famous 2005 series in England. The prodigious batter displayed tremendous shot-making skills on his first outing in the Ashes, at Lord’s, playing an enterprising knock of 91 runs in Australia’s victory. He managed 357 runs at the iconic venue in just eight outings during his illustrious career.

368 – Steve Smith

It is almost impossible to compile a list including Aussie batters without Steve Smith’s name popping up at some time. The unorthodox batter, who has established himself as a modern-era Test great, has been the most prolific batter at Lord’s since 2000. The defiant batter averages an incredible 57.69 on English soil, with 368 runs coming at the iconic Lord’s. While breaching the three-figure mark at the iconic venue is an accomplishment for any batter in the world, Smith is one of the very few batters to have smashed a double century at Lord’s.
