Top three run-getters in T20 cricket who haven’t played in the IPL

IPL has been a big platform for players to perform and get recognition all over the World. However, it is not easy for overseas players to get a contract in the IPL if they do not perform exceptionally well at the International level. Many players also get an IPL call-up based on their performance in other T20 leagues. In this article, we will be listing out three players who have scored the most runs in T20 cricket without playing a single IPL game.

3. Tamim Iqbal – 6173

Tamim Iqbal has been one of the greatest players in Bangladesh cricket history. He has so far scored 6173 runs in 217 T20 innings at an average of 31.33 and a strike rate of 119.16. He was in the Pune Warriors team in the IPL 2012 and 2013 but did not get a chance to feature in the playing XI. Tamim has been one of the mainstays in the Bangladesh batting line-up for a long period of time. He has scored the majority of his T20 runs while playing in Bangladesh Premier League and the domestic T20 team in Bangladesh. He has been part of the Pakistan Super League as well.

2. Babar Azam – 6304

Pakistan captain Babar Azam is second in the unique list. He has not played any IPL match due to restrictions imposed by India on playing of Pakistan cricketers in the league. He has scored 6304 runs in T20 cricket at an excellent average of 45.02 and a strike rate of 128. This includes five centuries and 51 fifties. He has scored most of these runs in PSL or playing for Pakistan in T20Is.

1. James Vince – 6544

English cricketer James Vince is currently at the top spot in terms of most runs scored in T20 cricket without playing an IPL game. He has amassed 6544 runs at an average of 30.43 and a strike rate of 133.74. This includes one hundred and 41 fifties as well. Vince has performed quite well in the Big Bash League and in the Natwest T20 Blast.
