U19 WC 2022: IND vs SA Preview – India gear up for the Protea challenge

As the Under 19 World Cup has finally arrived, India U19 are all set to lock horns with South Africa U19 on January 15. It is safe to say that the Asian side have been on a roll, and recently went on to win the Under-19 Asia Cup as well. As a matter of fact, their record in Youth World Cups is sensational, to say the least.

While India went on to win the WC in the 2018 edition, they made it to the Final during the Under-19 World Cup 2020. South Africa on the other hand won the title in 2014. However, they can’t be taken lightly as the Heerden-led side have been in good form lately.

Besides, they were superb during the practice game against the West Indies. All-rounder Dewald Brevis was impressive for the Proteas youth side in the CSA Provincial T20 Knockout competition in October. Asakhe Tsaka is someone who the Dhull-led side need to be wary of.

However, as Vicky Ostwal and Kaushal Tambe starred during India’s win against Sri Lanka during the U-19 Asia Cup final, India do have a good bowling unit as well. This group B encounter at Guyana promises to be an absolute cracker of a contest. Besides, both teams would want to start their campaign on a winning note.
