Virat Kohli stepped down as the skipper of his franchise, Royal Challengers Bangalore, after the conclusion of the IPL 2021 and the captain’s cap has been handed over to the new entrant Faf du Plessis, who was bought by the franchise for INR 7 Cr. On March 12, RCB announced their new skipper in the form of Faf, the former Proteas captain.

Faf will have a big task ahead of him as the captain of the side as the IPL title is still elusive for RCB. The 37-year-old is a three-time IPL winner with CSK, and he’ll have to apply all those skills and abilities, of a country’s captain and a franchise’s captain, while captaining RCB.

Recently, Kohli had shared his thoughts on Faf being the new leader and had mentioned that ‘he commands a lot of respect’. Now, in a video shared on the IPL website, Faf is seen indulging in talks about his new term with the team.

Looking forward to captaining a big franchise like RCB: Faf du Plessis

When asked about how he perceives the added responsibilities of captaining an IPL side, he said: “There’s always an expectation that you wanna try and perform as best as you can. So that comes with a little bit of added responsibility- some people might say it’s a little bit of extra pressure- but lucky for me I’ve been around for a long time – in international cricket and also in IPL cricket – So I have that experience that comes with it.”

Talking about Virat Kohli, his leadership skills, and working with the team, Faf said that he finds himself very lucky as RCB have got a strong leadership group on the side. “Virat has captained his country for an extremely long time. He’s been a very good leader for Indian cricket and RCB and his experience, the wisdom, and knowledge that comes through that is second to none,” he said praising while Kohli.

He also praised his fellow teammates Glenn Maxwell and Dinesh Karthik and said that he’d be pulling them as close as possible to make sure he can use their leadership skills to take RCB to glory.
