Virat Kohli reveals two players who are his IPL GOATs

AB de Villiers

Ahead of Royal Challengers Bangalore’s match against Punjab Kings on Thursday, April 20, star batter Virat Kohli revealed his thoughts regarding the greatest cricketers to have ever featured in the Indian Premier League. The 34-year-old also answered many other tricky questions, including who according to him is the greatest all-rounder and his favourite IPL opponent, among many others.

However, his picks regarding the GOATs of IPL are causing a lot of buzz on social media. Even though he rubbed shoulders with some of the finest players in the form of MS Dhoni, Rohit Sharma, Suresh Raina, Chris Gayle and David Warner among many others, Kohli believes that AB de Villiers and Lasith Malinga are the actual GOATs of the cash-rich league.

“It’s a tough one. I think for me it’s between AB de Villiers and Malinga” Virat replied when he was asked to name the GOAT of IPL on JioCinema.

Chennai Super Kings is my favourite opponent: Kohli

The top-order batter also revealed Chennai Super Kings to be his favourite opponent in the competition. Kohli stated that since the four-time champions have a huge fan base, it is always exciting to play against them.

“I would say Chennai due to its big fan base. It is exciting,” Virat Kohli stated. The cricketer also revealed Shane Watson as the greatest all-rounder to feature in the competition. Notably, the former Australia cricketer has played 145 matches in the competition, scoring 3874 runs and picking up 92 wickets at an economy of 7.93. He has played a massive role in helping Chennai Super Kings win the IPL trophy in 2018 and the 41-year-old has also played under Virat Kohli in the past.

Interestingly, Virat named Ambati Rayudu as the most underrated cricketer in the history of the competition. The 37-year-old has played 193 matches and has scored 4264 runs at a strike rate of 127.44. He is currently playing for Chennai Super Kings but is yet to show his class in the 16th edition of the tournament.
