WATCH: Muttiah Muralitharan’s son imitates his father’s bowling action

Muttiah Muralitharan

Muttiah Muralitharan was a legendary bowler during his times without a shred of a doubt. He was a tough nut to crack for the opposition batters. He made his debut back in 1992 and donned the national jersey for 18 long years. In 133 Tests, 350 ODIs, and 12 T20Is, Murali, also known as the Smiling Assassin, went on to pick up 800, 534, and 13 wickets respectively.

With 1,347 wickets under his belt, he remains the leading wicket-taker in international cricket. His bowling action was a tad controversial though. In several instances, he was called out for ‘chucking’. The off-break bowler even underwent changes in his action through biomechanics. In the meantime, Muralitharan’s son was seen bowling like his father.

With a pretty similar action, his son entered his run-up and delivered the ball. He uploaded the video to demonstrate both the bowling actions.

Recently, Muralitharan also lashed out at four Lankan cricketers for their issue regarding the national contracts. A number of players, including Angelo Mathews and Kusal Perera, have been at the loggerheads with the SLC.

“This year we think they don’t need a central contract, we can go with tour contracts,” he had said.
