WBBL 2021 – Here’s how Indian cricketers fared in the tournament
The 2021 edition of the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) was won by the Perth Scorchers side. The Scorchers beat the Adelaide Strikers outfit by 12 runs in the summit clash. This edition of the tournament witnessed several Indian cricketers participating in the competition. In this article, let us take a look at the performance of the Indian players in WBBL 2021.
Smriti Mandhana and Deepti Sharma – Sydney Thunder
Smriti Mandhana turned out for the Sydney Thunder side in the 2021 Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL). Mandhana was in good form with the willow in the tournament and scored 377 runs in 13 innings at an average of 34.27 and a strike rate of 130.44. She also scored a century and 2 fifties in WBBL 2021.
Deepti Sharma scalped 13 wickets with the ball in the 2021 edition of the WBBL. The right-arm off-spinner picked her wickets at an average of 24.76, and a strike rate of 20.70. She gave away runs at an economy rate of 7.15 per over.
Harmanpreet Kaur and Jemimah Rodrigues – Melbourne Renegades
Harmanpreet Kaur and Jemimah Rodrigues turned out for the Melbourne Renegades side in WBBL 2021. Kaur was in scintillating form throughout the tournament and plundered 406 runs in 12 innings at a superb average of 58.00 and an impressive strike rate of close to 131. Kaur struck 3 fifties in the competition. She also picked up 15 wickets as well. Kaur won the Player of the Tournament award.

Jemimah Rodrigues also put up a good show with the willow for the Renegades. The right-handed batter amassed 333 runs in the tournament and scored her runs at an average of 27.75. She struck her highest score of the competition, a sparkling 75* against the Sydney Thunder side.
Hobart Hurricanes – Richa Ghosh
Richa Ghosh experienced a poor run with the willow in the 2021 edition of the WBBL. Ghosh could only manage to score 162 runs in 14 innings at an abysmal average of 12.46 and a mediocre strike rate of 95.29.
Brisbane Heat – Poonam Yadav
Poonam Yadav was a part of the Brisbane Heat side in WBBL 2021. Yadav played 13 matches and prized out 10 willow wielders in the tournament. She averaged 28.10 with the ball and gave away runs at a good economy rate of 6.63 per over.
Sydney Sixers – Radha Yadav and Shafali Verma
Radha Yadav and Shafali Verma turned out for the Sydney Sixers outfit. Yadav featured in 12 matches in WBBL 2021 and picked up 9 wickets at an average of 25.11. On the other hand, Shafali Verma endured a disappointing run in WBBL 2021 with the bat in hand.
She played 12 innings and scored only 191 runs at an average of under 20. Verma scored her runs at a strike rate of 105.52. She scored a couple of fifties in the tournament.
