Wobble-seam is effective for me and I trust it to work for me: Mohammed Siraj

One of the most consistent performers for India in recent times, Mohammed Siraj was terrific against Sri Lanka in the third and final ODI of the series at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram. The pacer clinched four wickets and absolutely derailed the Lankan batting unit. Courtesy of his ferocious start in the second innings, India managed to get control of the match early on as they eventually defeated the Dasun Shanaka-led side by a record-breaking 317 runs.

Soon after the match, the speedster disclosed that he has stopped worrying about his performance and concentrates more on execution these days. He revealed that after having a bad season in the previous IPL, he worked hard on this thought and it eventually helped him grow in confidence.

“When the IPL season went bad for me, I started focusing on white-ball cricket. I worked on it and grew in confidence. I stopped worrying about how my performance would go, which was not the case earlier. I started focusing only on execution of line and length,” Siraj said after third ODI.

It is effective for me and I trust it to work for me: Siraj on bowling with wobble seam

The Indian pacer has done remarkably well with the wobble seam so far. He discovered the art in 2018 and has been reaping the benefits of it ever since. He stated that the beauty of it lies in the unpredictability as he himself isn’t sure how ball will behave after pitching.

“With wobbled seam, how much the ball will do neither I know nor the batter. Sometimes it goes straight after pitching, other times it can come in sharply. Most of my wickets come through wobbled seam. It is effective for me and I trust it to work for me,” said Siraj after the third ODI.

“Inswing was my natural earlier but then it stopped so I also developed outswing. When I did not have the inswing, I developed the wobbled seam. It took a lot of time to get effective and give me confidence. The more I bowled in the nets, the better I got. In the IPL, I spoke to Dale Steyn as well for outswing which helped me a lot,” the 28-year-old further added.
