Yuzvendra Chahal reacts to Ireland’s weather conditions

The Indian players in Ireland are witnessing different kinds of weather in Dublin during their stay for the ongoing T20I series as they faced rainfall, the warmth of the sun, and a breeze of the cold air. While the first T20I was delayed by two hours and twenty minutes on Sunday, Yuzvendra Chahal revealed how he and the team members coped up with the cold weather.

As the match was reduced to 12-overs-a-side, Chahal was one of the standout bowlers in the short duration as he bowled three overs and conceded just 11 runs. When the game saw a partnership being built between Harry Tector and Lorcan Tucker, Chahal brilliantly dismissed the latter to put a stop to the Irish batters’ momentum.

“Very difficult (to bowl in these cold conditions). I felt like a finger spinner today. Sometimes it’s hard, but you have to adapt to every condition,” Chahal said while receiving the Player of the Match award during the presentation ceremony, after being asked how difficult it was to bowl in such conditions.

When Alan Wilkins asked him about the cold weather, Chahal jokingly said: “No I’m not okay I’m wearing three sweaters right now.”

Hardik gave me the freedom to execute my plans: Yuzvendra Chahal

The victory in the first T20I marked Pandya’s journey as a captain of a national side. Pandya became India’s 9th T20I captain and embarked on his journey with a magnificent seven-wicket win. He portrayed his all-round duties to perfection and picked up a wicket in his very first over, and followed it with a crucial knock in the second innings.

Chahal also thanked skipper Hardik Pandya to let him play his original game as he added: “The atmosphere under Hardik is chill, he gave me the freedom to execute my plans.”

India restricted Ireland to 108/4 in the 12-overs quota in the first innings, with Chahal, Avesh Khan, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, and Pandya taking a wicket each. In reply, Deepak Hooda played an unbeaten knock while opening India’s batting for the chase, and his partnership with Pandya helped the Men in Blue take a 1-0 lead in the series.
