Zimbabwe vs India, 2nd ODI Preview

The India tour of Zimbabwe kicked off on August 18, Thursday, at Harare Sports Club, and the visitors signed in with a thumping 10-wicket win in the first ODI of the three-match series. It was an all-round performance by the Men in Blue, ticking all the boxes and going 1-0 up in the series. The second ODI will be held on Saturday at the same venue.

Zimbabwe were asked to bat first, and straight away conceded to a superb spell of pace bowling by Deepak Chahar, who dismissed the top three Zimabawean batters. The African side were put on the back foot virtually from the word go, as they were tottering at 31 for the loss of four wickets.

Regis Chakabva, Brad Evans and Richard Ngarava chipped in towards the end of the innings and took them to a total of 189. But they were all out in only 40.3 overs. Indian opening batters Shubman Gill and Shikhar Dhawan finished off the match on their own, chasing down the target of 190 in 30.5 overs for no loss, with Dhawan unbeaten on 81 off 113 and Gill on 82 off 72 balls.

Here is the probable playing XI for ZIM vs IND:

Zimbabwe:
Although Zimbabwe lost the first match, they might go with more or less the same playing XI. It worked for them in the previous ODI series against Bangladesh, which is why they will not alter their team too much.

Innocent Kaia, Tadiwanashe Marumani, Wessly Madhevere, Sean Williams, Regis Chakabva (captain & wk), Ryan Burl, Luke Jongwe, Brad Evans, Richard Ngarava, Victor Nyauchi

India:
India would not tinker with their batting lineup since no batters apart from the openers were tried out. And it is improbable that they would change the bowling unit after a superb performance in the first ODI.

Shikhar Dhawan, Shubman Gill, Ishan Kishan, KL Rahul (captain), Sanju Samson (wk), Deepak Hooda, Axar Patel, Deepak Chahar, Kuldeep Yadav, Prasidh Krishna, Mohammed Siraj
