3 occasions when a player sported teammates’ jerseys in an international match

It is a dream of every player to have his/her jersey while playing an international match. However, there have been several occasions when a player sported teammates’ jerseys in an international match. Let us take a look at three such instances.

3. Suresh Raina

Suresh Raina and former Indian skipper MS Dhoni share a very good bond. During their playing days, both Dhoni and Raina were involved in several match-winning performances for India and their IPL franchise Chennai Super Kings (CSK). There was also an instance when Raina wore Dhoni’s jersey during a Test match against Australia in 2014.

Dhoni had announced his retirement from the Test format just a game before in the same Test series. In the next match in Sydney, Raina was seen wearing Dhoni’s jersey while on the field. To note, it was also Raina’s last Test match as he never represented India in the longest format of the game.

2. Sourav Ganguly

Former team India skipper Sourav Ganguly had worn his teammate Suresh Raina’s jersey during their white-ball matches against West Indies in 2007. The reason behind Ganguly wearing Raina’s jersey was the lack of proper fitting in his own jersey. The left-handed batter has also smashed 98 runs while sporting Raina’s jersey but failed to reach the double digits during the second time.

1. Suryakumar Yadav and Avesh Khan

Cricket fans were left amused during the recently concluded second T20I match between West Indies and India when Suryakumar Yadav and Avesh Khan were seen wearing their teammate Arshdeep Singh’s jersey thanks to the late arrival of luggage with the match also being delayed for a few hours. The Men in Maroon went on to win that match that will be remembered for a weird occurrence of two players wearing their teammate’s jersey.
