3 pacers who can replace Jasprit Bumrah in India’s T20 WC squad

Jasprit Bumrah is reportedly ruled out of the T20 World Cup 2022 after suffering a back stress fracture and as per the sources, he is expected to be out of action for at least 4-6 months. The pacer who had missed the Asia Cup 2022 earlier had returned for the last two T20Is against Australia recently. He complained of back pain during the practice session ahead of the first T20I against South Africa, and it eventually led to BCCI ruling him out of the T20I series. Mohammed Siraj had replaced him in the T20I series, however, here is a look at 3 pacers who can replace Bumrah in the T20 World Cup squad:

Deepak Chahar

Deepak Chahar has been named in the standbys already for the T20 World Cup, however, his performance against South Africa in the first T20I has brought a different option for India. He is a handy batter down the order, and with the recent decline performances of Harshal Patel, Chahar could take his spot in the playing XI. The right-arm seamer can swing the ball both ways and can win matches on his day. His numbers in the format do suggest a place for him in the 15-man squad and would have been ideal if he had pace in his armoury.

Mohammed Siraj

Mohammed Siraj was named the replacement for Bumrah in the T20Is, and there are high chances of the former getting picked for the T20 World Cup squad 2022. Siraj, who was brought back into the scheme of things earlier this year for the T20Is against Sri Lanka, was not considered after that but has now earned a recall for his impressive stint in Zimbabwe. Siraj can be a useful option in Australia with the bounce he extracts, and he might be on the flight if he manages to have a good series against South Africa.

Mohammad Shami

Mohammad Shami would be the ideal replacement for someone like Bumrah, considering the former’s experience and his skillsets. The speedster found a place in the standbys for the Indian T20 World Cup 2022 squad and was expected to play the T20Is against Australia and South Africa until he tested positive for Covid-19. He has returned a negative Test now and is likely to be back in contention. Shami can make the ball talk upfront and is one of the underrated Yorker specialists in the country.
