3 players who were unlucky to miss out in India’s Ireland squad

India named a 17-member squad for the upcoming two-match T20I series in Ireland and there weren’t many surprises with Hardik Pandya getting the captaincy hat. The big names including Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah will all be part of the England Test tour and hence, they will not be part of the squad for the Ireland series. This will be a great opportunity for the youngsters to shine at the international stages as Rahul Tripathi earned his maiden call-up. However, there were few heartbreaks for certain cricketers who deserved a place and here are 3 players who were unlucky to miss out in India’s Ireland squad.

Shikhar Dhawan

Shikhar Dhawan despite his good form in the recent IPL 2022 has been shown the door again, and clearly, he is not in the plans for the T20 World Cup 2022. The left-hander amassed 460 runs in 14 games at an average of 38.33 and a strike rate of 122.66 for the Punjab Kings and finished as the top run getter for his franchise. He has been in sensational form in the last three to four IPL seasons, but his age factor has meant there was no place for him again in the squad.

Rahul Tewatia

Rahul Tewatia played a crucial part in the successful run for the Gujarat Titans this year, however, he could not find a place in the Indian side for the Ireland tour. Tewatia showed his finishing abilities with some mind-boggling innings and came out excelling in pressure situations for his franchise. He finished with 217 runs in 16 games in the season at an average of 31 and he hinted his disappointment on Twitter after being ignored.

T Natarajan

T Natarajan lost his way in the Indian side after suffering a lot of injuries, however, he managed to produce a decent comeback in the recent IPL 2022 for the Sunrisers Hyderabad. The left-arm seamer picked up 18 wickets in 11 games at an average of 22.55 and was among the wicket’s column consistently. The 31-year-old can nail the yorkers and is considered to be a death overs specialist. However, India has preferred Arshdeep Singh over the Tamil Nadu lad for the Ireland tour.
