Asitha Fernando and Ebadot Hossain conceded this record

Debuts are always special for any player in any format of the game. A cricketer looks to give his best when he takes the field for the first time in his career. But there are some debuts that turned out to be a forgettable outing for bowlers in the same T20I match. Sri Lanka’s Asitha Fernando and Bangladesh’s Ebadot Hossain are two such players who leaked more than 50 runs on their respective debuts.

1.Asitha Fernando

After playing seven Tests and four ODI matches, Sri Lanka’s right-arm medium-fast bowler Asitha Fernando finally made his T20I debut against Bangladesh in Match 5 of Group B in the Asia Cup 2022 in Dubai. Bangladesh batted first and posted a big total of 183/7 in 20 overs. Pacer Asitha had a bad start to his T20I career as he gave away 51 runs for one wicket in his four-over spell. The 25-year-old seam bowler picked up the solitary wicket of Sabbir Rahman for just five runs. Though his side won an entertaining match by a margin of two wickets, Asitha had a forgettable debut.

2.Ebadot Hossain

After playing 17 Tests and just one ODI, Bangladesh’s right-arm fast-medium bowler Ebadot Hossain made his T20 international debut in the same match as Asitha’s, against Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup 2022 in Dubai. The Lankan Lions chased down the target of 184 with just four balls to spare with Ebadot conceding 51 runs in his four-over spell. The 28-year-old picked up three wickets – Pathum Nissanka, Charith Asalanka and Danushka Gunathilaka but went for plenty as his side even lost the contest. The match turned out to be a poor T20I debut outing for both the right-arm fast bowlers
