AUS vs IND: 3 Indian cricketers who deserved to be picked for Australia tour

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Monday announced the squads for the One Day International, T20I and Test series that would be played as a part of India’s tour to Australia. The selection panel surprised with some of their inclusions as Varun Chakravarthy was the new face in the T20I side. However, some of the players were ignored as well who deserved a chance to play for the country. Here are three players who deserved to be picked:

3. Suryakumar Yadav

National call-up for the stylish right-handed batsman from Mumbai, Suryakumar Yadav is long due now. He has been performing well over and over again in the domestic circuit and has thrashed the best of the bowlers in the Indian Premier League. Even in this season of the IPL, he has batted in 10 innings and has managed to score 283 at a strike rate of 148.94. This also includes two half-centuries, one of which was a match-defining inning of 79 runs not out. Everyone in the Indian cricketing circles thought that he would be picked in at least the Indian team for the T20Is, but to everyone’s surprise, he was ignored yet again and the wait continues for Surya.

2. Rishabh Pant

After being the mainstay wicketkeeper of the Indian team for more than a year, Rishabh Pant is also missing from all the limited-overs teams that India announced for the Australia tour. He missed out on a section of the Indian Premier League, after sustaining an injury. But he made a strong comeback into the team. He has played in 9 matches and has scored 253 runs at an average of 31.62. His omission comes in as an abrupt move by the selectors, even more, because he has looked in good touch with the bat and the wicket keeping gloves too.

1. T Natarajan

T Natarajan, after doing well in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League and also proving his worth by toiling hard in the domestic circuit, has not been picked. He has been brilliant for the SRH nailing his yorkers at will and has emerged as one of the best death bowlers. Natarajan is one of the top wicket-takers in IPL 2020 with 13 wickets to his name in 12 matches so far. However, he will be travelling as a part of the reserve pool of the bowlers, but after considering his numbers, he deserved to be in the main squad.
