BCB opens up on ongoing tussle between board and head coach

Bangladesh Cricket Board chief executive Nizamuddin Chowdhury on August 25 (Thursday) said that Bangladesh Test and ODI team head coach Russell Domingo has clarified that his words were misrepresented in the media regarding the ongoing tussle between him and the board.

The former South African player took a jibe at the board and stated that BCB is making too much noise from outside which has resulted in the stoppage of growth of cricketers in the shortest format. Domingo’s word’s did not go well with the BCB and its members as they sought clarification from him.

It must be noted that Domingo was also removed as a head coach of the T20 squad after Bangladesh’s poor performance in the shortest format of the game for the past year in the international arena. Bangladesh recently suffered T20I and ODI series defeat at the hands of Zimbabwe by a margin of 2-1.

Domingo was embarrassed with the whole affair: BCB chief executive Nizamuddin Chowdhury

“We are seeing it and I feel the whole thing is a misrepresentation. Today we spoke at length with Russell and he is embarrassed because the way things are coming into the media he is a bit awkward with that and that is why he requested you that it should not come in this way,” Nizamuddin told reporters at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Friday.

“Because it is the relationship between employee and employer and we can have misunderstanding and so to avoid it (misunderstanding), we spoke at length with Russell and even you wanted to know. The thing is that it (that news) is not right. And I am repeating two parties had a miscommunication,” he said.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh under the leadership of their veteran all-rounder Shakib al Hasan are going to participate in the upcoming 2022 T20 Asia Cup. BCB has already announced its squad for the competition and the Bangla Tigers will want to bring out their A-game and try to make history by lifting the prized trophy for the first time
