David Warner and Michael Slater react to rumours of their fight in Maldives

David Warner and Michael Slater, who formed a part of the Australian contingent in the 2021 Indian Premier League, have gotten involved in a mini-controversy. If reports are to be believed, the duo entered into a verbal war at a bar in the Maldives after which things got physical. Both are currently staying at the Taj Coral Resort where they are quarantining for two weeks.

Warner and Slater are part of the 38 Aussie cricketers, coaches and support staff, who all are trying to return home after the suspension of the 2021 IPL. They moved to the Maldives on Thursday via a chartered flight organised by the Board of Control for Cricket in India.

In the meantime, both Warner and Slater were disappointed with the rumours around them. Brushing the speculations off, they put forth how strong their friendship is and urged people to not believe in anything without a piece of concrete evidence.

I don’t know where you get these things from: David Warner

“There is absolutely nothing to the rumour mill … Davie and I are great mates and absolutely zero chance of [having] a fight,” Slater was quoted as saying to The Sunday Telegraph on Saturday, May 8.

“I don’t know where you get these things from. Unless you were here and have got concrete evidence you can’t write anything. Nothing happened,” Warner stated.
