WATCH: Dinesh Karthik’s special birthday wish for Pat Cummins

Australia’s decorated speedster Pat Cummins celebrated his 28th birthday on May 8, Saturday. Cummins is currently present in the Maldives with other Australian players as he is waiting for the Australian government to lift the ban on people travelling from India. The right-arm pacer plied his trade for the two-time champion Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Meanwhile, the Knight Riders surprised the Birthday Boy with a special and heart-warming video. In a video uploaded on the KKR’s official Twitter handle, various Kolkata players including the likes of Andre Russell, Dinesh Karthik, Eoin Morgan, Shubman Gill, Prasidh Krishna, and many others wished Pat Cummins on his special day.

The video commenced with the West Indies explosive all-rounder Russell wishing Cummins in a unique way, “What’s poppin bro? You know it’s a special day. Just want to wish you a happy, happy birthday. No 1 Test bowler in the World for a reason.”

Meanwhile, it was the wish by the former KKR captain and veteran wicketkeeper-batsman that attracted the attention of the netizens. While wishing the 28-year-old, Karthik hoped that Cummins is soon appointed as the skipper of the Australian National team as he possesses all the abilities to become a good leader.

“I think in KKR, we are very lucky to have a player like you. One of the best going around the world. Wish you a very very happy birthday. I genuinely wish you soon become an Australian captain. I think you have all the skill sets to do it. Wish you all the very best,” Karthik said.

The talks regarding Cummins leading Australia have been going around for quite some time now. Australia’s current Test skipper Tim Paine isn’t having an ideal outing as a leader as under his Australia lost the home Test series against India. Thus it is rumoured that Pat Cummins can be made the next captain if Australia fails in the Ashes too.

Further in the clip, Eoin Morgan also wished the Aussie pacer by saying, “Happy birthday boss” whereas opener Shubman Gill also wished Cummins by saying, “Happy birthday.”
