ENG-W vs IND-W: Top 5 performers from T20I series

The just-concluded T20I series between England and India Women saw the hosts come out on top 2-1 in the three-match series. The Indian eves suffered an awkward batting collapse in the decider that saw them being restricted to just 122/8.

As both teams start their preparations for next year’s T20 World Cup in South Africa. Here are the top five performers of this bilateral series.

5. Sneh Rana

Emerging player Sneh Rana has been a key performer for the Indian eves for the last 15 months. She starred with the ball in hand in the all-important second game that helped the Women in Blue level the three-match series.

Rana finished with figures of 3/24 from her four overs at an economy rate of exactly six as she accounted for the likes of Bryony Smith, Maia Bouchier and skipper Amy Jones.

4. Sophie Ecclestone:

Sophie Ecclestone turned out to be England’s most valuable spinner in the last few months. She made it matter with a brilliant three-wicket haul in the decider finishing with match-winning figures of 3/25 from her four overs at an economy of 6.3. Sophie finished the series with five wickets from three matches.

3. Sarah Glenn:

Sarah Glenn was also one of the standout performers for the hosts with the ball in hand. She took 4/23 at an economy of 5.8 in the opening game and also took a three-wicket haul in the decider. Sarah finished the series with seven scalps from all three outings.

2. Sophia Dunkley:

Sophia Dunkley was England’s best performer with the bat. The opener scored a quickfire unbeaten 44-ball 61 that helped the hosts in registering a nine-wicket victory in the series opener. While Dunkley failed in the second game, she scored 49 in the decider to finish with 115 runs from three games.

1. Smriti Mandhana:

Smriti Mandhana was India’s outstanding performer with the bat and gave a tough fight to the hosts. She scored one half-century which happened to be an unbeaten 53-ball 79 in the series-deciding second T20I.

Mandhana finished with 111 runs from three matches and barring the final game tried her level best to ensure a brisk start for the Women in Blue.
