Five lowest team scores in IPL

Since its inception, 14 years back in the year 2008, the Indian Premier League (IPL) became an instant hit amongst cricket fans all around the globe. The tournament became popular day by day and it led to the viewers getting glued to their television sets in every match. Over the years, there have been some great high-scoring entertaining games, but the league has also witnessed some of the lowest scores ever achieved by teams.

Let’s take a look at the top 5 lowest scores in the history of IPL:

5.Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) (70 runs twice)

RCB has got bundled out for 70 runs twice in the IPL. In 2014, they got all out for 70 runs against Rajasthan Royals (RR). Praveen Tambe spun his web with figures of 4/20. RR won by six wickets with 42 balls remaining. In 2019, RCB got dismissed for the same score against Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Harbhajan Singh and Imran Tahir took three scalps apiece. CSK won the clash by seven wickets.

4.Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Delhi Capitals (DC) (67)

In 2008, KKR got humiliated by Mumbai Indians (MI) when they managed 67 runs. Shaun Pollock took two wickets as MI chased down the target in just 5.3 overs. DC suffered the same score when they got humbled by Punjab Kings (PBKS) in 2017. Sandeep Sharma bagged four wickets as PBKS won with 73 balls left.

3.Delhi Capitals (66)

DC again recorded a low score of 66 runs while chasing 213 against MI in 2017. MI posted 212/3 as DC suffered miserably in their run-chase. Spinners Harbhajan Singh and Karn Sharma snared three wickets each to defeat DC by a huge 146 runs margin.

2.Rajasthan Royals (58)

RR has the second-lowest score in the IPL. In 2009, they got all out for a paltry 58 runs against RCB. Chasing 134 to win, RR batters faced a magical spell from Anil Kumble. He took five wickets for just five runs as Shane Warne and his side lost the match by 75 runs.

1.Royal Challengers Bangalore (49)

RCB has bagged the embarrassing record of the lowest total in IPL ever. They scored a shambolic 49 runs in total against KKR in 2017. Chasing 132, all RCB players registered single-digit scores as KKR pacers wreaked havoc. The team got all out in 9.4 overs and lost the game by 82 runs.
