Harry Brook opens up after his maiden IPL ton

After burning a hole in SRH’s purse during the IPL auction 2023, Harry Brook was expected to fetch a truckload of runs in the Indian T20 league. However, that couldn’t be the case with the English all-rounder during the first few matches of the season as he went back with the scores of 13,3, and 13 before turning the tables against KKR. Brook, who came lower down the order during SRH’s initial two games, opened the order for his side during the match against KKR and left bowlers gasping for breath with his 55-ball 100*

Brook stole the show completely at Eden Garden with 12 fours and 3 sixes and pushed SRH to post a massive total of 228 runs on the board. Talking about his innings, the English cricketer said that he walked up with an ‘I don’t care’ mentality on Friday and gave his trollers a befitting reply, who pulled him down after SRH’s initial games.

I think I was putting pressure on myself after the first few games: Harry Brook

“I think I was putting pressure on myself after the first few games. If you go on social media, people are calling you rubbish and you start to slightly doubt yourself a little bit. But I just went out there with a ‘I don’t care’ mentality tonight and thankfully came up. There are a lot of Indian fans out there (on social media) who are going to say ‘well done tonight’ but they were slagging me off a few days ago. Glad I could shut them up,” said Brook after receiving his Player of the Match award against KKR.

After being put to bat first, Brook’s thunderous show and skipper Aiden Markram’s 50 off 26 turned instrumental in bringing SRH their second victory of the season. While Nitish Rana (75 off 41) and Rinku Singh (58* off 31) tried their best to put KKR on top, the target seemed a little too much for them in the end and they were left short of 23 runs.
