IPL: Fastest to complete 3000 runs

The IPL’s 16th season has been quite exciting. In the first two weeks of the competition, we witnessed everything, be it high-scoring games or dramatic thrillers. The top-order batters naturally benefit when we speak of cricketers who are the fastest to complete 3000 runs in the Indian Premier League. The top three in the list are all top-order batters who have provided their respective sides with tremendous starts over the years. Let’s have a look-

3. Jos Buttler | 85 innings

Rajasthan Royals opener Jos Buttler was the latest entrant in the list, as he became the third fastest to 3000 runs, achieving the feat in 85 innings. In the recently concluded game against the Chennai Super Kings at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, Buttler notched up a half-century and found his place in the elite list. He was the leading run-scorer of the tournament in the IPL 2022 and continues to perform in a similar manner.

2. KL Rahul | 80 innings

KL Rahul has undoubtedly been the Indian Premier League’s most reliable run-accumulator over the past five seasons. By reaching 49 runs off just 33 balls in a match against the Rajasthan Royals in 2021, Rahul reached the milestone of 3000 runs. Rahul then moved to the Lucknow Super Giants in the 2022 edition and has been leading the side since the past two editions, while also opening the batting and playing some crucial knocks.

1. Chris Gayle | 75 innings

Chris Gayle is among the best batters in IPL history. The left-handed West Indies hitter reached the milestone against Punjab in 2015 at Bengaluru’s M Chinnaswamy Stadium with a knock of 117(57). This indicated that in addition to being an exceptionally quick scorer, he was also quite reliable in such an unpredictable style which conveyed a great deal about his T20 legacy. After representing RCB for years, he shifted to PBKS in the later stages of his IPL career.
