IPL 2021: Preity Zinta lauds Shahrukh Khan for batting well under pressure
Acknowledging the efforts of youngster Shahrukh Khan after Punjab Kings’s massive loss against MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings on Friday, the Punjab Kings owner, Preity Zinta shared a tweet.
After MS Dhoni inserted Punjab Kings to bat, Deepak Chahar’s sensational spell pushed the opponents into all sorts of trouble. Finishing with impressive figures of 4/13 after he was bowled out by his captain, the Punjab Kings were never able to recover from Chahar’s onslaught and could only set 107 runs for CSK to win.
As one batsman after the other came and went back to the pavilion, it was a young Shahrukh Khan’s effort that grabbed attention. Battling it alone during his team’s collapse, Shahrukh got a 36-ball 47, and even though he fell only three short of a deserving half-century, his effort pushed Punjab Kings to a score of respectability.

Appreciating him for his efforts, Zinta tweeted “Not our night tonight but a few positives. #SRK batted so well under pressure & bowlers came back stronger from the previous game. Better to move on & put this behind us. Hopefully, there will be a lot of learning from tonight @PunjabKingsIPL Really well played CSK! #PBKSvsCSK”.

During the chase, CSK batsmen found no trouble as Faf du Plessis and Moeen Ali added 66 runs for the second wicket after Arshdeep Singh sent back Ruturaj Gaikwad early. Hitting seven fours and a six in his 31-ball 46, Ali top-scored with du Plessis following (36 off 33).
Mohammad Shami struck on consecutive deliveries as both Suresh Raina and Ambati Rayudu fell cheaply after Moeen Ali’s dismissal, although Sam Curran walked in and got the team across the line with six wickets in hands and 26 balls to spare.
Admitting that his team was inconsistent, skipper KL Rahul said: “Last game we got 220, this game we couldn’t get even half of it. It’s important that we learn from our mistakes.”
Kings will next play Delhi Capitals at Mumbai on 18th April, while the Super Kings will meet Rajasthan Royals at the same venue the next day.
