IPL 2022: RR vs DC Preview – Delhi seek survival against playoffs-bound Rajasthan

The Rajasthan Royals will be locking horns with the Delhi Capitals in Match 58 of IPL 2022 at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on May 11. Both teams will be heading into this clash on the back of contrasting results. While the Royals registered a six-wicket win over Punjab Kings in their previous fixture, the Capitals suffered a humiliating 91-run loss against the defending champions Chennai Super Kings. DC would be hoping to avenge their reverse fixture loss where they had gone down by 15 runs.

After suffering back-to-back losses, Rajasthan finally found their feet in the last game where both batters and bowlers clicked well as a unit with a special mention to the middle-order and underfire opener Yashasvi Jaiswal whose handy knock of a 41-ball 68 was instrumental in the inaugural edition’s champions chasing down 189. Meanwhile, the move of sending Devdutt Padikkal in the middle order also did wonders. Their ace spinner Yuzvendra Chahal roared back to form with 3/28.

As far as Delhi are concerned, they simply were off-colour on a particular day. The bowlers were taken to the cleaners right from the word ‘go’ while the batters failed to deliver under immense pressure. While the hard-hitting duo of David Warner and Mitchell Marsh got starts neither of them could stay at the crease right till the end as a result of which the Delhi Capitals suffered a mammoth defeat which has done a lot of damage to their playoff qualification hopes.
