IPL 2022: SRH vs PBKS Review – Punjab end the season with a thumping win

Punjab Kings registered their seventh win of the season and finished their campaign with a victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad in Match 70 of IPL 2022. Jonny Bairstow (23) was quite aggressive straightaway while Shikhar Dhawan (39) played a handy knock from the other end. Liam Livingstone and Shahrukh Khan’s quickfire knocks meant that PBKS ended up winning the game by 5 wickets and 29 balls left.

Earlier, SRH decided to bat first after winning the toss and they lost the early wicket of Priyam Garg for just 4. Abishek Sharma (43) and Rahul Tripathi (20) stitched a useful partnership however, it was the duo of Washington Sundar (25) and Romario Shepherd (26) who got the side to a decent total of 157 in the end which was never going to be enough on the wicket. Harpreet Brar and Nathan Ellis both picked up three wickets each for the Punjab Kings.

Liam Livingstone

Liam Livingstone played a brutal knock of a 22-ball 49 which turned the game in favour of PBKS completely. The English lad hit two fours and five sixes in the process and finished off the game in style for the PBKS side.

Harpreet Brar

Harpreet Brar was the pick of the bowlers for the PBKS side and he helped in restricting SRH to a relatively par total in the end. The spinner finished with 3 for 26 in his four overs and dismissed the crucial pair of Abishek Sharma and Rahul Tripathi who looked in good touch at the start.

What next for the two teams

Both teams are knocked out of the race for the playoffs of IPL 2022 with SRH finishing eighth in the points table while PBKS finished sixth in the table with the victory.
