Since the inception of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2008, many prominent leg-spinners including Shane Warne, Brad Hogg, and Adam Zampa among others have participated in the tournament. However, when talking about the most successful leg-spinners in IPL, the Indian spinners are currently dominating the list. On that note, let us take a look at the five leg-spinners with the most wickets in IPL. 

5. Imran Tahir (82 wickets in 59 matches)

South Africa veteran leg-spinner comes fifth on the list with 82 wickets in 59 matches. The 43-year-old is known for his ‘running’ celebration and has entertained the fans with his performance in the IPL. Tahir in his IPL career represented Rising Pune Giant, Chennai Super Kings, and Delhi Capitals.

4. Rashid Khan (111* wickets in 90 matches)

Former Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and current Gujarat Titans (GT) star bowler Rashid Khan sits in the second position in the elite list. The wily leg-spinner has scalped 111 wickets in just 90 matches and he is not done yet. Rashid will be seen in action during his side’s encounter against RR during qualifier one of IPL 2022.

 3. Piyush Chawla (157 wickets in 165 matches)

Veteran spinner Piyush Chalwa comes second in the list of most wickets with 157 scalps in just 165 matches. During his tenure in IPL, Chawla has represented champion teams like Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings, and Kolkata Knight Riders. His best came for the Kolkata outfit as he picked 52 wickets in 59 IPL games.

2. Yuzvendra Chahal (165* wickets in 127 matches)

Indian and Rajasthan Royals (RR) spinner Yuzvendra Chahal will take the first place in this list after scalping just one more wicket in IPL. Over the years, Chahal proved to be a vital performer for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), but he was released from the squad ahead of the mega auction and was bagged by RR. This season, Chahal is bowling excellently and helping his side to get crucial wickets.

1. Amit Mishra (166 wickets in 154 matches)

Amit Mishra started his IPL journey with the Delhi Daredevils (DD) in IPL 2008. He registered his best IPL figures of 5 for 17 in the very first season of the competition. However, his best season came for the Orange Army in 2013, when he claimed 21 wickets. Overall, he has scaled 166 wickets in his IPL career.
