Jasprit Bumrah’s wife Sanjana hilariously takes the credit for his batting

Jasprit Bumrah is dominating the rescheduled fifth Test match against England at Edgbaston with both ball and bat. He made the headlines on Saturday (July 2) for breaking a record for the most runs in a Test over by smashing 35 runs against English ace bowler Stuart Broad. He guided India past 400 runs in the first innings with his cameo and then took three wickets to stumble England’s top order. In a recent video shared by ICC, Bumrah’s wife and commentator Sanjana Ganesan has hilariously taken credit for the player’s batting skills.

The 28-year-old pacer remained unbeaten on 31 runs off just 16 balls. He also played a crucial knock in the 2nd Test match at the Lord’s and now has scored 118 runs in eight innings in this five-match Test series. His revelation with batting has surprised many fans and they are expecting more of Bumrah with the bat. When asked about her contribution to Bumrah’s bowling skills, his wife said no but said she is only focused on his batting.

She had tons of tips and tricks: Sanjana Ganesan on Bumrah’s mother

Burmah is having a great show at Edgbaston with bat and bowl. But the player has also been impressed with his leadership skills. He was named as a stand-in skipper after Rohit Sharma tested positive for Covid-19 before the match and KL Rahul is missing the series due to a groin injury. Bumrah’s appointment as captain raised some eyebrows due to the player’s lack of experience in leadership duties. But Bumrah has managed well to keep India in a good position with his decision-making skills so far.

Sanjana revealed her family’s reaction when they learned about Bumrah’s appointment as a captain. Sanjana said that the player’s mother was the most excited person when she found out about her son’s appointment as a captain.

“She’s very excited. She’s always liked to see him do well, because he loves the sport and she’s literally seen the entire journey he’s gone through to get to where he is. She was ecstatic when she found out. She had tons of tips and tricks, even though she’s never played cricket herself! Like a mother does, she told him, ‘This should be how you think, and this should be what you do. It was very nice to see, and she was very happy and proud of him.” – Sanjana Ganesan said in the ICC video.
