Liam Livingstone reveals he wasn’t completely fit in T20WC

England all-rounder Liam Livingstone has said that he was not completely fit during the recent successful T20 World Cup campaign and played despite injury. Livingstone had a big part to play in England team with both bat and ball and he is one of the brilliant fielders going around.

He suffered an injury during his stint in the Hundred tournament in August and missed a lot of action coming into the T20 World Cup in Australia. The selectors straightaway named him in the T20 World Cup squad, given the form he had been in. The move paid off in the end as England clinched their second T20 World Cup title by beating Pakistan in the final at the MCG.

I didn’t actually start sprinting till a week before the first World Cup game: Liam Livingstone

Livingstone mentioned how he suffered the long-term injury and explained the impact of it especially with the packed schedule in place. He further said that he was not fully fit in the ICC tournament but was delighted to bring back a World Cup trophy to his home.

“I fell down a kerb trying to dodge a puddle, one morning when we were going out for breakfast in London. The whole winter flashed in front of my eyes. It was a 12-week injury, with seven weeks and four days till the first World Cup game,” Livingstone told Sports Mail in an interview.

“It’s still not 100% and it wasn’t through the World Cup. I didn’t actually start sprinting till a week before the first World Cup game but letting my mum and dad fly home with a World Cup medal made all the struggles worth it,” he added.

Meanwhile, Livingstone has been named in the Test squad for Pakistan tour and is expected to feature in the first Test, which starts on December 1 in Rawalpindi.
