Litton Das joins Bangladesh team ahead of Super Four stage

In brilliant news for the Bangladesh, Litton Das joined the squad ahead of the Asia Cup’s Super Four stage. It is worth noting that Litton was initially ruled out of the early stages of the competition due to illness. However, he joined his teammates on Monday, September 4, after receiving medical clearance from the medical staff.

Following his selection, Bangladesh’s chief selector, Minhajul Abedin, stated that Litton was added to the side due to the several injury concerns that are already present in the camp. Batter Najmul Hossain Shanto had hamstring issues against Afghanistan, whereas Mehidy Hasan Miraz suffered finger cramps. Furthermore, Mustafizur Rahman picked up a niggle against Sri Lanka and was not available for the clash against Afghanistan.

“The Asia Cup squad has a few injury concerns, and the team management felt the need for an additional player going into the Super Four, we have received the BCB medical team’s clearance regarding Litton’s health and have decided to send him to Pakistan,” Minhajul Abedin was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo.

Bangladesh reach Super Four stage by defeating Afghanistan

Speaking of Bangladesh’s performances in the Asia Cup 2023, the side began their campaign by taking on Sri Lanka in their first game. However, they were overpowered by the brilliance of their opponents. Sri Lanka registered a comfortable victory as Bangladesh got off to a horrid start.

However, they faced off against Afghanistan in their next game and managed to make amends. Batting first against Afghanistan, Bangladesh put forth a brilliant performance in the first innings. Mehidy Hasan and Najmul Hossain Shanto scored brilliant centuries to help the side post 334 runs on the board.

Furthermore, during the target defence, the side showcased resilience and bundled out Afghanistan for just 245 runs. After registering a win by 89 runs, Bangladesh will look to put in similar performances in the Super Four stages of the competition. Furthermore, with Litton Das’ return, the side will strengthen their batting even further.
