Most T20I sixes in a calendar year

With every international game of cricket, there are records created or broken. It may be a player surpassing another player bagging a unique achievement, or it can be the team’s achievement as a whole. But whatever it may be, none of them can be achieved easily. The amount of hard work and determination that goes behind it is immense.

Usually, the players do not even realize that they have achieved a feat until they’re in the news. They play for their team, and not for themselves. Their end goal is to take their side to victory. But in the process, the players go on to create some magnificent records. On that note, let us have a look at those players who have hit the most sixes in a calendar year in Men’s T20Is.

3. Martin Guptill- 41 (2021)

New Zealand’s opening batter and one of the most experienced players on the side, Martin Guptill hit 41 sixes in the year 2021, falling short of a couple more sixes in order to end at the top of the leader board. Guptill fell short of just one big shot from levelling Mohammad Rizwan’s record, who is next on the list.

2. Mohammad Rizwan- 42 (2021)

Pakistan’s opening batter, and one of the finest players in modern-day cricket, Mohammad Rizwan led the leader board last year, when he ended up hitting 42 sixes while representing his side in the shortest format of the game. Notably, Rizwan achieved the feat in 26 innings.

1. Suryakumar Yadav- 50 (2022)

India’s middle-order batter Suryakumar Yadav has been at his best in the 20-over format recently. His century against England this summer proved his worth, and ever since then, he has been batting brilliantly. In just nine months of the year 2022, Suryakumar has amassed 50 sixes in the 22 innings that he has played so far, and he achieved the feat in the second T20I against South Africa.
