Most wickets in T20 cricket

The onset of T20 cricket has provided the batters with the license to go berserk with the bat. While the batters have revelled in the shortest format of the game, some bowlers have taken a liking to the haphazard approach by the batters. Here is a list of the bowlers who have been at their prolific best in T20 cricket.

Sunil Narine (West Indies) – 474 wickets

Sunil Narine caught the eye of the world with his unusual action that deceived several world-class batters. The 34-year-old spinner from Trinidad & Tobago has 474 wickets to his name in 435 matches across all T20 competitions. He had to make adjustments to his action after ICC found some irregularities with the straightening of his arm during his bowling sequence. Although he has not been as threatening with the ball after tweaking his action, he is still a handful in the shortest format of the game. It is a travesty that the two-time T20 World Champion is no longer a part of the national team after a fallout with the board.

Rashid Khan (Afghanistan) – 500 wickets

At just 24 years of age, Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan is threatening to rewrite the history books by the time he hangs up his boots. The mercurial leg-spinner has ascended to global stardom and is one of the most adored cricketers around the globe due to his competitive personality. He recently reached the milestone of 500 wickets in the shortest format of the game during the inaugural edition of the SA20. While his mastery of the ball is a sight to see, Rashid tends to put a spectacular show with the bat as well.

Dwayne Bravo (West Indies) – 614 wickets

Veteran Windies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo is arguably one of the best to ever grace the format, and it is no surprise he tops the list given his exceptional exploits with the ball. The 39-year-old is still going strong in the inaugural edition of the ILT20. The Caribbean all-rounder has an astonishing 614 wickets to his name in 556 matches. He has been an integral part of several domestic T20 sides, none more so than of four-time IPL champions the Chennai Super Kings.
