Dinesh Karthik’s cheeky reply to a random Twitter user grabs eyeballs

Indian wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik made a hilarious response to a random X (formerly Twitter) user after the latter shared a clip claiming that former England captain Michael Vaughan mispronounced his name as “Dennis Karthik.”

This funny incident occurred before India and England’s five-match Test series, which gets underway in Hyderabad on January 25. Karthik and Vaughan are likely to work together in the commentary box throughout the red-ball series. Over the past two years, the duo has developed a close bond being part of the commentary panel.

The user wrote on X, “Just heard Michael Vaughan pronounce Dinesh Karthik’s name as Dennis Karthik in a highlight video lmfao what evem.”

Karthik tagged Vaughan and replied, “Thanks for the new nickname.”

Royal Challengers Bangalore retain Dinesh Karthik for IPL 2024

Dinesh Karthik has been retained by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) for the much-awaited Indian Premier League 2024 season as the Bangalore-based franchise eye to clinch their maiden title. The retention was a surprise for everyone as the 38-year-old failed to impress in the previous edition, having scored just 140 runs in 13 matches at an average of 11.67 and a strike rate of 134.62. In particular, this is his second stint with the three-time finalists.

The experienced batter recently played for Tamil Nadu in the Vijay Hazare Trophy and accumulated 245 runs in six innings at an average of 49, including two half-centuries. The 38-year-old has so far played in 26 Tests, 94 ODIs, and 60 T20Is and amassed over 3000 runs across all formats, which included a century and 17 half-centuries.
