Rishabh Pant set to make his return to IPL 2024 after a brief hiatus

In a recent turn of events, Rishabh Pant, the star Indian batter, seems to be on the road to recovery following a harrowing accident in 2022. According to a report in Cricbuzz, he played a warm-up game in Alur, near Bengaluru, that signaled green for Delhi Capitals.

Insiders from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and Pant’s IPL franchise are buzzing with optimism, hinting at his potential leadership role for the Delhi Capitals in the upcoming IPL season. However, the 26-year-old will focus solely on his batting prowess, leaving wicketkeeping duties to another player.

According to sources, Pant’s agility remains intact, proving his ability to run and bat with the same enthusiasm as pre-injury. Currently undergoing rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru, Pant also sought treatment in London last month under the BCCI’s arrangements.

The Delhi Capitals franchise, while confident in Pant’s leadership skills, have decided to play it safe by assigning wicketkeeping responsibilities to another player. In the absence of Pant, David Warner took the reins in the previous IPL season.
