Top 5 performers from ENG vs NZ Test Series

The New Zealand tour of England has come to an end. The home side England went on to thrash the Kiwis by a margin of 3-0 and made a strong comeback in the Test format after suffering defeats at the hands of Australia and the West Indies. Three Lions under the leadership of skipper Ben Stokes and head coach Brendon McCullum looked like a completely different team. They will also look to emulate their performances in the upcoming Test match against India.

On that note, let us look at the top five performers from England vs New Zealand Test:

Daryl Mitchell (NZ)

New Zealand batter Daryl Mitchell was undoubtedly the best performer on the Kiwi side in the recently concluded series. The right-handed batter stroked 538 runs in three matches at an excellent average of 107.60. Mitchell was looking for the most comfortable batter for his side and bailed his team from several tricky situations.

Joe Root (ENG)

Former England skipper Joe Root played several match-winning knocks for his team in the three-match series. He stroked an excellent hundred in the first Test match and won the match for his team. He scored 396 runs in three matches at an outstanding average of 99.

Jonny Bairstow (ENG)

Senior batter Jonny Bairstow was playing a new brand of cricket in the Test series and bamboozled the Kiwi’s bowling attack. The right-handed batter stroked boundaries at his will and showcased his masterclass with the bat. He scored 394 runs at an average of 78.80.

Trent Boult (NZ)

The left-arm pacer Trent Boult was the highest wicket-taker in the series after grabbing a total of 16 wickets at a decent average of 28.94. Boult took early wickets for his side but did not receive much support from the other end. The left-arm pacer grabbed wickets with some peaches and was the best bowler for his side in the series.

Matthew Potts (ENG)

Playing his debut series for the Three Lions, Matty Potts looked very deadly with the ball. The right-arm pacer scalped a total of 14 wickets in three matches at an average of 23.29. Potts has also been selected for the match against India and he will like to do well if he gets the chance in the playing XI.
